Position Title: Lifeguard

POSITION PURPOSE
Provide a safe aquatic environment for members in accordance with policies and rules established by the Rochester Athletic Club and the American Red Cross or equivalent.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES
- Current Lifeguard Training/First Aid Certification is required.
- Mature, responsible behavior.
- Ability to remain alert.
- To do nothing illegal or unethical.
- Oversee the pool area to prevent accidents and provide a safe, enjoyable environment in accordance with ARC guidelines.
- React to all pool emergencies in an efficient, effective manner according to pool emergency procedures.
- Comply with and enforce pool policies and rules established by the Rochester Athletic Club.
- Comply with club policies/guidelines including but not limited to; uniforms, work substitutions, schedule requests, parking, mandatory meetings, and time clock procedures.
- Complete pool records and accident reports and log sheets with accuracy.
- Maintain safety equipment at guard station for completeness and good working condition.
- Maintain cleanliness of pool and surrounding areas.
- Act as a resource to members with club activities and events.
- Follow the chain of command when dealing with problems.
PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS
- Overall satisfaction level of members within your area of responsibility.
- Feedback and satisfaction level of other RAC Team Members.
- Being on time and reporting for all your scheduled shifts.
- Provide a “Member Experience First” for all members and guests.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION
Average Communication: Especially where one must frequently convey detailed or important instructions or ideas accurately and quickly.
Average Visual Abilities: Average, ordinary, visual acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents or products, or operate machinery.
Average Hearing: Able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information.
MENTAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION
Reasoning Ability: Ability to deal with a variety of variables under only limited standardization. Able to interpret various instructions.
Language Ability: Ability to read and proficiently speak and communicate in English with both guests as well as other RAC personnel.
