HVAC Technician

Primary Function:

The HVAC Technician will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC systems within our chemical manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five years of experience in the HVAC field, with a strong background in troubleshooting and maintaining HVAC systems in an industrial environment.

Duties & Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

This position may require any of the following functions:

Install, maintain, and repair HVAC systems, including heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment.
Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on HVAC systems to ensure optimal performance and efficiency.
Diagnose and troubleshoot HVAC system malfunctions, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
Checks, repairs and/or replaces valves, motors, controls, switches, gauges, wiring, fans, pumps, compressors, condensers, cores, pipes and other functional components of the system.
Monitor and adjust HVAC systems to maintain proper temperature, humidity, and air quality levels within the facility.
Maintain accurate records of all HVAC maintenance and repair activities, including work orders, maintenance logs, and inventory.
Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies during HVAC maintenance and repair activities.
Collaborate with other maintenance and engineering staff to support overall facility operations and production goals.
Assist in the development and implementation of HVAC-related maintenance programs and procedures.
Stay up-to-date with industry standards, regulations, and advancements in HVAC technology.
Respond to emergency HVAC repair requests and perform on-call duties as required.
Ensure compliance and understanding of safety and environmental policies, procedures, and regulations.
Participates in incident investigations to identify root-cause and enact corrective actions.
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education:

High School Diploma/GED equivalent required

Experience:

Minimum of 5 years of experience as an HVAC Technician, preferably in a chemical manufacturing or industrial environment.
Industrial process chiller experience required.
EPA Universal Certification preferred.

Qualifications:

Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, including installation, maintenance, and repair practices.
Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams, schematics, and blueprints.
Proficient in the use of HVAC diagnostic tools and equipment.
Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Physical Requirements:

Candidate must be able to:

Lift and carry up-to 50 pounds
Regularly required to sit, stand, walk and climb ladders or stairs in the facility
Regularly required to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and manipulate objects
Ability to wear PPE such as hard hat, safety shoes, protective clothing, safety harness, safety glasses, and respiratory protection (as required)
Ability to work in various environmental conditions, including exposure to chemicals, heat, and noise.

Work Environment:

PVC manufacturing facility, in presence of chemicals.
Occasionally work in tight or closed in spaces.
Work, outdoors, in sometimes-inclement weather.
Moderate noise-level and environmental vibration related to equipment.
