AV Systems Designer

Wrightson, Johnson, Haddon & Williams, Inc. (WJHW), a nationally recognized design and consulting firm, has an opening for an Audio Visual Systems Designer.

Responsibilities Include:

• Designing AV, Multi-media, presentation display systems, IPTV, direct view LED, small presentation sound systems and control systems, including product research and product selection, cabling selection.
• Design and documentation:
  • rough-in; conduit, technical room layouts and system devices in Revit
  • plate and rack elevations, display schedules
  • drawing functional diagrams in Revit
  • writing and editing specifications in Word
  • writing and editing programmatic statements
  • developing probable systems costs using Excel
  • use of BlueBeam; markups; toolsets, etc.
  • interpreting architectural, electrical and structural drawings for complex buildings
  • selection of common copper and fiber cabling for AV systems
• For external design team coordination:
  • development of power requirements
  • conduit configuration
  • heat loads
  • data drop requirements
  • room, enclosure and finishes coordination

Qualifications and Experience:

• Minimum of three (3) years of experience as an Audio Visual Systems Designer in a contracting design/build or consultant environment, with responsibility/experience preparing shop drawings and specifications.
• CTS certifications highly desirable.
• Working knowledge of digital video and sound protocols; SDI, SMTPE, Dante, Ethernet, Blulink.
• Experience with IPTV/RF distribution and/or other low voltage systems a benefit.
• Knowledge of computers, computer systems and software, including MS Word and Excel.
• Modest AutoCad/Acad LT and Ease skills, an asset but not required.
• Experience/knowledge of Revit MEP is desirable, but not required
• Excellent communication skills interfacing with clients, engineers and other design team members.
• Highly self-directed & organized, requiring little supervision.
• Good listener and note taker.
• Systematic and resourceful problem solver.
• Ability to multi-task, switch between multiple projects.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, time sensitive environment.
• Ability to adapt work schedule with short notice.
• Availability to travel regionally and nationally on a regular basis.
