Entry-Level Buyer

Job Description: The Entry-Level Buyer purchases and procures items used to build machinery and for facilities services for Precision Valve Automation – PVA. This position is critical to PVA; the Entry-Level Buyer ensures all parts are available so that machines are delivered to customers on time at the best price, quality, and according to terms and conditions which impacts the revenue and long-term profitability of the company. This position requires onsite presence in Halfmoon, NY.

PVA has implemented a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy requiring full vaccination prior to the start of employment. Individuals seeking an exemption from this requirement for medical or religious reasons will need to complete a request for accommodation to the HR department.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Ensures parts are ordered and available when needed, escalating if “promise date” is not met.
  • Reviews purchase orders and ensures promise dates are complete and accurate.
  • Provides forecast levels to suppliers to ensure inventory is available.
  • Identifies and negotiates price, availability, and discounts for contracts and parts. 
  • Reports lead time issues to supervisor to proactively plans alternate strategies.
  • Updates part records with price/supplier changes.
  • Reviews sales reports and history to inform purchasing decisions.
  • Reviews bin sizes and quantities to ensure they support business needs.
  • Identifies potential vendors and qualifies goods and services based on pricing, quality, and delivery timeframes.
  • Utilizes vendor scorecard.
  • Ensures Kanban system is used and maintained and that issues are brought to the attention of the supervisor.
  • Returns product to suppliers for credit or quality issue replacement, as needed.
  • Uses ERP system and recommends enhancements to achieve maximum integration, coordination, and information flow between departments.
  • Meets inventory turn and valuation goals as well as cash flow objectives as designated by the company.
  • Maintains confidentiality of customer and employee information.

  • Knowledge of operations management including; ERP system - Epicor, procurement, inventory, logistics, bill of materials, required.
  • Technical understanding and technical management capabilities, preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business management, preferred.
