Machine Shop Manager

Halfmoon, NY

Job Description: The Machine Shop Manager is responsible for manufacturing the parts sold by PVA. The Machine Shop manager ensures that product is created according to specification based on instructions and job tracker which ultimately impacts the revenue and long-term profitability of the company. This position requires onsite presence in Halfmoon, NY.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Ensures department creates parts and follows procedures and instructions to meet customer expectations.
  • Communicates with other team members/Group Managers to discuss deliverables, delays, and identify underlying issues that may impact production and shipment.
  • Reads and interprets mechanical schematics for their department.
  • Coordinates work flow between departments daily.
  • Monitors department to ensure that goals and expectations are met, and product is being developed within 99% quality standards.
  • Identifies root causes of problems in manufacturing and identifies solutions.
  • Ensures equipment is in optimum working order.  
  • Ensures department is staffed for excellence.
  • Recruits and interviews employees, as needed.
  • Effectively trains and develops internal candidates into next level.
  • Coaches team regarding employee relations issues, as needed.
  • Meets with team to review strengths and areas of opportunity on a bi-monthly basis.
  • Communicates operational changes with team.
  • Maintains confidentiality of customer information 100% of the time.
  • Ensures compliance with all employment laws, company policies, guidelines and procedures and partners with leadership, as needed.

  • Must have relevant knowledge of automated industrial machining equipment. Prior experience as a machinist required.
  • Minimum five (5) + years of production management experience required.
  • Bachelor’s or Associates Degree in business, industrial applications, manufacturing, or professional engineering, preferred.
