Part-time HR Assistant

Yellowstone Academy

Title:                     PT Human Resources Assistant

Classification:     Non-Exempt

Reports to:         HR Director

Location:             85% Remote (must live in Greater Houston area)

 

Qualifications:

 

  • High school diploma required
  • 1-2 years’ experience as a HR Assistant or HR Coordinator
  • Experience working in an urban educational setting, preferred
  • Proficiency in use of Microsoft Office, Google docs, familiarity with database functionality and portal management and ease in learning to use other software and online resources

 

Primary Responsibilities

The Human Resources Assistant provides administrative support  of all human resources activities and serves as first point of contact for employee leave, pay, and benefits inquiries.   

 

The primary responsibilities are as follows:

 

  • Source and manage candidate pool.
  • Coordinate interview and serve as first point of contact for candidate follow-up
  • Work with the HR Director to plan and coordinate new employee orientation
  • Send and collect new employee onboarding forms and certify Form I-9
  • Respond to employee leave requests, including FMLA, vacation, and all other time off requests
  • Coordinate daily substitute activities for the purpose of ensuring that staff absences are covered in a timely manner and that student safety and educational needs are met
  • Input and audit HR system for correct employee demographic information and payroll, leave, and benefit data
  • Respond to all employee verification and service record requests
  • Assist with devising and updating HR forms (e.g., personnel action forms)
  • Under the direction of the HR Director, write and update HR standard operating procedures
  • Assist with payroll preparation and collect related forms (e.g., direct deposit, W-4, etc.)
  • Work with HR Director to manage performance management tools and calendar
  • Maintain HR reports
  • Plan and coordinate staff social events
  • Other duties as may be assigned

Physical Effort

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee will primarily from home.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear and use laptop screen.  May have to sit for long periods. May be required to work on-site to assist with employee events, requiring mobility to and from campus buildings or off-site venues.
