Manufacturing Supervisor

Solid Dose Manufacturing

REPORTS TO:    Production Manager

SUPERVISES:     Machine Operators (Leads & Technicians)

 

PRIMARY TASKS:

 

  1. Managing the Production Area & Schedule:

 

    • Attend Production meetings and update on Manufacturing area activities (Daily Activity sheet)
    • Maintaining the production schedule to be ‘on-time’ in a cost-effective manner
    • Ensuring all Operations are performed with proper Safety practices on the Production floor.
    • Ensuring all process equipment are in good working condition, calibrated and setup properly.
    • Reviewing Batch record documentation for correctness and forwarding promptly.
    • Follow-up with appropriate departments to resolve issues.
    • Troubleshooting manufacturing machine & process problems quickly to ensure schedule is on target.

 

  1. Supervision of Manufacturing Personnel & Operations:

 

  • Supervise the Production Area and Staff for Safety, Quality & ‘on-time’ Delivery of Product.
    • Ability to manage about 20-30 Machine Operators with assistance from Production Manager.
    • Providing coaching to Operators and Assigning responsibilities to them.
  • Write and review SOP’s for Production Equipment & Processes
  • Conducting Safety, cGMP, and ‘on the job’ training of Production Staff
  • Implementing cross-training sessions which will provide an opportunity for employees to advance as well as be used in other areas within the company
  • Monitors time and attendance of Operators & assists with payroll issues

 

  1. Communication with Management:

 

  • Informing Manager of any changes with the production schedule each day and find alternate solutions
  • Assist with Trainings and Coaching to ensure GMP compliance (behavior) on the Production floor.
  • Assisting with Employee Performance Appraisals and feedback

 

  1. Ensures Safety, Quality and Quantity during Manufacturing:

 

  • Periodically checking the area to ensure a Quality product is manufactured in compliance with cGMP’s
  • Ensure Safety is implemented in work areas.
  • Conducting necessary process investigations & periodic ‘internal-audit’ of departments
  • Ensure all physical characteristics of manufactured products are within established ranges
  • Reconciliation for each ‘in-process’ step for quantity limits and calculations

 

 

 

 

 

 

SKILLS NEEDED:

 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent Time management skills - ability to handle multiple concurrent projects as assigned by Manager
  • Ability to motivate co-workers & have Good organization skills
  • Hands-on with MS Office & ERP systems
  • Ability to reorganize and solve problems and work with little supervision
  • Be able to lift 50lbs & stand most of the day
  • Ability to take responsibility of the area when Production Manager is not available.

 

EDUCATION/TRAINING:

 

  • Minimum High School Diploma, BS degree in Science or Pharmacy preferred.
  • Minimum 10 yrs of Supervisory experience in the Pharmaceutical Industry at varying capacities in OSD Manufacturing.
  • Lean Manufacturing experience a plus.

 

 

PHYSICAL DEMAND / WORK ENVIRONMENT

Job requires sitting and standing as needed.  Walking, primarily on a level surface, periodically throughout the day is also required.  Reaching above shoulder height, below the waist and/or lifting may be required to file documents or store materials throughout the workday.  Proper lifting techniques required.  Activities may include occasional lifting up to 50 pounds.

The performance of this position occasionally requires exposure to manufacturing areas where, under certain circumstances, personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields and hearing protection are mandatory.  The primary environment will be ambient room temperature, office lighting and exposure to traditional office equipment as found in a typical office environment.
