Dean of Students

Yellowstone College Prep

The Dean of Culture is a member of the Yellowstone College Prep’s leadership team. The Dean of culture will be responsible for driving a positive school culture, overseeing the school-wide systems for discipline and classroom management, managing parent engagement and communication, and ensuring the safety of students and teachers on campus at all times. In addition, as Yellowstone embarks on an ambitious strategic growth plan to grow to 1,000 students in PreK through 12th grade, the Dean of culture will play a critical role in helping develop this educational model and culture. 

 

Driving Positive School Culture

  • Help establish Yellowstone College Prep’s core values and set of operating principles that reflect the school mission and goals; 
  • Build and establish a school culture that reflects these values and promotes student achievement;
  • Lead the development of a mindfulness and character building program that can proactively address student socio-emotional needs on campus; and
  • Develop a plan to incentivize strong attendance, good behavior, and other behaviors consistent with parent and student success.

 

Discipline and Student Behavior Management

  • With the support of school leadership and teachers, develop a comprehensive student discipline system that is age and grade-level appropriate and promotes student success at Yellowstone College Prep;
  • Manage the student handbook process and ensure proper communication with parents, and implementation across the campus;
  • Assist teachers when all classroom level discipline interventions have been exhausted to ensure that learning can continue to happen in the classroom;
  • Collect, maintain and analyze relevant student data to evaluate and modify all systems of accountability;
  • Coordinate communication with parents after a discipline incident has occurred; and
  • Serve as a resource to teachers and other staff when they encounter difficulties with students and families.

Managing Parent Engagement and Communication

  • Work closely with the social work office and admissions department to promote positive parent engagement on campus and create new ways for parents to take part in the Yellowstone experience;
  • Manage the system for weekly parent communication at the school-wide level;
  • Oversee events and programs throughout the year that bring the entire Yellowstone family together; and
  • Other than the classroom teacher, serve as the primary liaison between the family/parent community and the school.

Teacher Support

  • Serve as a support to the teaching staff on campus through observations, conferences, professional development sessions, and other intentional interactions.
  • Work with the Principal to coordinate the resources and trainings that teachers need to be successful.

Teacher Coaching/Development

  • With the Principal, work closely with hired consultants to support Yellowstone teachers and instructional aides with their instruction, curriculum development, and assessments;
  • Participate in classroom observations and feedback sessions, and facilitate professional development sessions for in-service days and PLCs

Leadership Team Responsibilities

  • Participate in a weekly leadership team meeting and other related executive decision making;
  • Be ultimately responsible for the well-being of the student body by serving as one of the points of contact for after-school student pick-up and transportation;
  • Work with the leadership team to develop all-staff days and other school-wide culture building activities and meetings;
  • Participate in meetings, conferences, and other opportunities to stay well-informed about current best practices in education and continue their own personal and professional development; and
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 

Other Administrative Responsibilities

  • Work with the leadership team to develop the daily schedule, the annual school calendar, and other related programming/events;
  • Work with the leadership team to develop all-staff days and other school-wide culture building activities and meetings; and
  • Participate in meetings, conferences, and other opportunities to stay well-informed about current best practices in education and continue their own personal and professional development; and
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • An Excellent Project Manager: a hard worker with a strong attention to detail who understands how to set ambitious milestones, use data to guide decision making, can effectively delegate responsibilities, and can navigate a complex task/project from inception through to completion

 

This position will include early morning, evening and weekend commitments as required and assigned.

Compensation and Benefits

Compensation will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
