Primary Responsibilities
Development and Management of a Comprehensive School Counseling Program
The Counselor will:
- Provide responsive services to students
- Provide community resources to parents
- Discuss the comprehensive school counseling program with the school administrator
- Develop and maintain a written plan for effective delivery of the comprehensive school counseling program and current individual school data
- Communicate the goals of the comprehensive school counseling program to education stakeholders
- Maintain current and appropriate resources for education stakeholders
- Maintain career resources, college and scholarship information, parent/guardian resources, teacher resources and community resources
Delivery of a Comprehensive School Counseling Program
Guidance Curriculum:
- Provides leadership and collaborates with other educators
- Supports teachers in developing and delivering classroom guidance activities and lesson plans
- Implements developmentally appropriate and prevention-oriented group activities to meet student needs and school goals
- Conducts classroom guidance lessons such as character education
- Conducts small and large group activities based on the guidance curriculum
Individual Student Planning:
- Assists all students, individually or in groups, with developing academic, career, personal/social skills, goals, and plans
- Conducts counseling sessions with students
- Appropriately guides students in developing goals based on individual data and other relevant information
- Accurately and appropriately interprets and utilizes student data
- Collaborates with parents/guardians and educators to assist students with educational and career planning
- Sends written communications to parents/guardians and teachers, regarding student progress
Other Administrative Responsibilities
The Counselor will:
- Help students develop post secondary educational plans in accordance with their interests, abilities and career plans
- Assist students with the completion of college admissions applications
- Organize and promote standardized assessment opportunities and interpret test results to students and/or parents, upon request
- Assure that appropriate and accurate information is maintained in each student’s permanent, cumulative record
- Accurately evaluate student transcripts
- Provide counsel about college recruitment practices and admissions deadlines
- Implement PGP and endorsement pathways
- Devise student scheduling and assist with master schedule planning
- Implement and coordinate national school programs like Red Ribbon Week etc.
- Administer and coordinate standardized testing
- Attend ARD meetings as necessary
- Assist in the development of a School Assessment Program and the interpretation of testing and assessment results related to career guidance
- Continue professional growth and development
- Other duties as assigned by Administration

Compensation and Benefits
Compensation will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
