Position: Cost Accountant

Department: Accounting/Finance

Reports to: Controller

Job Brief:

We are looking for an experienced Cost Accountant to support the Company’s general accounting and manufacturing operations.

Responsibilities:

The responsibilities include, but are not limited, to the following:

• Support the month-end and year-end close process.
• Analyze cost of goods sold and gross margin with an emphasis on product profitability and production variances.
• Update and audit material costs as required.
• Assist in periodic cycle counts of inventory.
• Ensure inventory procedures are being followed.
• Prepare and post journal entries.
• Update item general ledger accounts as necessary.
• Determine bill of materials changes that may be needed for products and provide recommendations to the Controller.
• Analyze standard costing assumptions and develop monthly reporting to assess budget versus actual results.
• Analyze and report on equipment utilization and availability.
• Assist in audits and general ledger preparation.
• Assist in the budgeting/forecasting process.

Requirements:

• Proven experience in the role of Cost Accountant.
• Thorough knowledge of cost accounting procedures.
• Familiarity with financial accounting statements.
• Experience with general ledger functions and month-end/year-end close procedures.
• Hands-on experience with accounting software packages, like Microsoft Dynamics NAV or Fourth Shift.
• Advanced MS Excel skills, including v-lookups and pivot tables.
• Demonstrated accuracy and attention to detail.
• Aptitude for numbers and quantitative skills.
• Experience developing financial reporting and analysis.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment, pharmaceutical industry a plus.
• BS Degree in Accounting.
