Head of Business Development

JOB SUMMARY:

Candidate will generate new business selling CDMO services and drug delivery technologies. Responsible for identifying, evaluating, structuring, negotiating and closing customer sponsored product development and manufacturing deals.

Industry leader with product portfolio that supports customer innovation platforms within the pharmaceutical space. Commitment to growth and leadership in the market. High visibility role developing and driving commercial strategies that optimally position the company’s portfolio with pharmaceutical customers. Utilize research and insights on customer business needs and market trends to define the pharmaceutical segment plans, priorities and opportunities. Lead and support related strategic activities including strategic planning, communications, pipeline development & new product launches.

Responsibilities:

  • Identifies and generates new business opportunities.
  • Proactive, hands-on approach to business development to ensure that revenue targets and key performance indicators are constantly over-achieved with incremental revenue growth from both the existing products/customer group, as well as identifying and penetrating in new accounts.
  • After the firm's strategic objectives have been identified, selecting target customers and the desired positioning for the company, product portfolio determined, focusing on how to best implement the chosen marketing and sales strategy for the business development
  • Negotiates development, licensing and supply agreements with third parties.
  • Collaborates with other members of the commercial team to meet both individual and departmental goals and objectives.
  • Collaborates across the organization with teams that include, product development, regulatory, legal, finance and manufacturing professionals, to craft and execute high value transactions which are well structured to grow the business.
  • Uses the CRM system to manage leads and drive the opportunity pipeline
  • Actively participates in the promotion of the company globally, including participation in leading industry conferences.
  • Participates in the development and implementation of processes, methods and procedures regulations necessary for the smooth operation of the department.

 Qualifications:

  • 10+ years in a BD role in Pharma/biotech industry
  • Knowledge of technology and product licensing practices
  • Proven success selling CDMO services/drug delivery technologies
  • BS/MS/Engineering degree in science with concentration in Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry or chemical engineering will be preferred. A PhD would be an advantage.
  • Advanced Knowledge in: - Biopharmaceutical Development/Manufacturing
  • At least 4 years of prior experience in: - BioTech/Pharma Sales and/ or Business Development - CMO/CDMO Environment Experience
  • Preferred: - Knowledge of Regulatory Requirements - Experience with Tradeshows/Conferences - Established Industry Connections - Technical Writing Experience

 Requirements:

  • Flexibility and ability to multitask and adjust job responsibilities as needed
  • Excellent command of the English language (spoken and written), strong interpersonal skills, and exceptionally strong communication skills.
  • Bi-lingual would be an additional plus
  • Highly effective presentation skills and ability to explain to both a scientific and non-scientific audience
  • Ability to flexibly and effectively work with other departments and assist as needed as a scientific reference point
  • Position requires up to 60% travel including international.
