General Description
This is a full-time position for a person that is goal-oriented, revenue-driven, highly motivated and strives for accuracy. Primary duties include, but are not limited to the following:
- Essential functions: Entering office charges, entering Home health charges, entering Chronic Care charges, entering hospital charges all in accurate and timely manner to ensure best reimbursement, insurance follow up in Aprima to ensure timeliness of filing and best reimbursement of claims. Other functions of job will include: verifies completeness and accuracy of all claims prior to submission, ensure all claims are submitted with a goal of zero errors, accurately posting insurance payments and adjustments, reading and interpreting insurance explanation of benefits, respond to inquiries from insurance companies, patients and providers via phone, e-mail, web-portal, and face-to-face, processing and review of statements, make necessary arrangements for medical records requests, completion of additional information requests, etc. as requested by insurance companies, review accounts receivable to follow up on unpaid claims aged over 45 days, review and process accounts for collections, preparation of daily deposits, processing of both insurance and patient overpayments, regularly meet with Billing Manager to discuss and resolve reimbursement issues or billing obstacles, regularly attend monthly staff meetings and continuing educational sessions as requested, translate when needed, meet deadlines, work Saturdays at front desk and performing front desk functions (see attached front desk receptionist job description) perform additional duties as requested by Management Team.
- Nonessential functions: Attend huddle meetings, replace toner cartridges in printers, kitchen duty rotation, maintaining clean and organized work space, notify appropriate staff of low inventory supplies when needed, immediately notify appropriate personnel or IT of any telephone, computer, printer, scanner, or software issues
Work Experience Requirements
- Two or more years experience in medical office setting (pediatric preferred, not required)
- Two or more years coding experience (required)
Education Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC) Certificate (required)
- Collection experience
