Metropolitan Grill is a classic American steakhouse rooted in timeless hospitality, exceptional cuisine, and attentive service. We are seeking polished, hospitality-driven professionals to join our team as a Bar Server. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy the energy of the bar environment while delivering the same elevated service and attention to detail expected in the dining room.
Bar Servers are an integral part of the bar team and help create a seamless guest experience in the lounge. Working closely with bartenders and the service team, they guide guests through the food and beverage menu, provide thoughtful recommendations, and ensure service moves smoothly throughout each shift. A strong understanding of classic and contemporary cocktails, spirits, wine, and steakhouse cuisine is essential to delivering the level of hospitality our guests expect.
Lunch service is offered exclusively in the bar, and this position is expected to work both lunch and dinner shifts. Bar Servers must be comfortable working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment while maintaining the polish and professionalism of a classic steakhouse.
Qualifications
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a fine-dining or classic full-service restaurant
• At least 3 years of serving experience in a high-volume environment
• Strong knowledge of spirits, classic cocktails, wine, and food pairings preferred
• Must be at least 21 years of age
• Availability to work nights and weekends required
• Regular, reliable, and predictable attendance
• Ability to remain on your feet for extended periods of time
• Ability to sustain a high level of energy, manage stress, and remain composed during service
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
• Ability to safely and consistently carry full cocktails and large oval trays
• Relevant training or experience demonstrating the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for the role
• Strong sense of ownership, accountability, and professionalism
• Polished demeanor and strong guest presence
Compensation
Average Earnings: $30–$58 per hour, including commissions and tips
Pay Structure:
• $5 per hour base rate (full range $5–$12.50 per hour)
• 10% commission on individual gross sales
• 5% commission on all gross beverage sales, excluding bottled wine
In the unlikely event that base pay plus commissions in a workweek do not meet or exceed the minimum wage, Bar Servers will be paid at least the Seattle minimum wage of $21.30 per hour.
