What You'll Do 

  • Welcome every guest warmly; monitor comfort during the wait; personalize interactions so each guest feels seen and valued. 

  • Lead hosts in real time on guest interactions, pacing decisions, and conflict resolution while modeling the professional tone, body language, and conduct expected at the host stand. 

  • Own the reservations and waitlist; quote accurate wait times; update the book continuously to maximize capacity without compromising service flow. 

  • Align the host team by keeping everyone informed, communicating priorities clearly, and reinforcing consistent execution throughout service. 

  • Coordinate with managers, the bar, and servers; escalate concerns appropriately; maintain a spotless, organized host stand; complete side work and basic cash tasks. 

What You Bring 

 

Must Haves 

  • 1 to 2 years of experience in fine dining establishments of comparable quality. 

  • Proactive organizational skills aimed at maximizing seating capacity and minimizing wait times. 

  • A strong understanding of the coordination and timing required for effective seating flow. 

  • Adherence to professional uniform and hygiene standards. 

  • Comfort in initiating conversations with guests. 

  • Ability to adapt to changing circumstances in real-time, resolving issues with solutions that prioritize the guest experience. 

  • Ability to lift up to 20 lbs. and work on your feet for extended periods (reasonable accommodations available). 

  • Weekend availability and reliable, consistent attendance. 

Preferred 

  • 1–2 years in a highvolume restaurant. 

  • Familiarity with Toast point of sale system.  

  • Proficiency with a large reservation platform like SevenRooms and OpenTable. 

Pay & Compensation 

 

Average earnings $25-$35/per hour with commissions. 

  • $4-8/hr. base rate (based on experience) + 6% pooled commission on restaurant's gross sales. 

  • *In the unlikely event the base rate + commissions in a workweek do not meet or exceed the minimum wage, server assistants will be paid at least the minimum wage of $21.30/hour.
