JOB SUMMARY
Program Coordinator will be responsible for the effective implementation and oversight of the Youth Assistance Fund across New Hope Housing’s family properties. This role emphasizes program coordination, resident engagement, and data-informed strategies to support underserved families by addressing youth-related needs such as school supplies, extracurricular fees, clothing, and more. Key responsibilities include responding to resident inquiries, making appropriate referrals to community resources, coordinating and managing designated programs, and maintaining accurate and thorough documentation. The coordinator will also be expected to understand and uphold non-discrimination policies in accordance with Fair Housing laws.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Program Coordinator is responsible for developing an effective, honest, trusting relationship with residents. This includes:
- The ability to be consistent, reliable, and authentic;
- An understanding of each resident’s needs and the ability to meet a resident where they are;
- The capacity to inspire and facilitate change in behavior.
- A genuine enjoyment of and appreciation for time and interactions with residents;
- The development of mutual respect.
- The capacity to obtain maximum benefit from any time or encounter with residents, including: being present, actively listening, and avoiding interruptions or the tendency to “multi-task”.
- The ability to be flexible and responsive, creating new tools and strategies as well as adapting familiar ones to a new context.
- remaining a student, with a desire to learn from the tenant and from the relationship;

Information and Referral Services
- Cultivate and maintain an open-door policy to assess resident needs and offer proper referrals and follow up.
- Assist as directed in establishing partnerships with the social service agencies to build a foundation of resident resources.
- Be proactive in maintaining and improving a comprehensive list of service providers and community resources.
- Maintain absolute confidentiality in the delivery of referral services while handling privileged information.
- Provide direct assistance (i.e. bus pass, addresses, travel information, food pantry and clothing donations) where available.
- Attend continuing education events and classes to enhance personal knowledge and develop best practices.
Program Coordination
- Conduct outreach to residents regarding programs that may be beneficial for their family
- Be creative and open in approaching program development and implementation.
- Proactively advertise services, events and programs to residents through day-to-day communications and flyer distribution.
- Make frequent resident contacts and assist where needed (i.e. helping carry grocery bags).
- Maintain good communication with supervisor when assisting residents.
- Monitor, organize and rotate pantry supplies.
- Distribute donations according to the guidelines.
- Monitor budget and ensure programs remain on target with revenues and spending.
- Assist Community Manager and other staff as needed to fulfill goals and duties of the organization.

QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional relevant certifications or training is a plus.

- Sound judgment, diplomacy and patience.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.

- Strong customer service orientation.
- Knowledge of Fair Housing a plus.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Outlook.
- Knowledge and experience of ClientTrack or HMIS a plus.
- ATTENDANCE AND PUNCTUALITY
Attendance is an essential job function. This position requires the ability to flexible and non-traditional hours which would include evenings and weekends. It is extremely critical that individuals be able to work their scheduled hours on a consistent basis and, if necessary, overtime hours when required.
Transportation Requirements
Reliable transportation is required at all times. The Youth Program Coordinator will be traveling across the three New Hope Housing family properties. As timely travel is required with short notice, a personal vehicle is required. Millage is reimbursed.
EQUIPMENT
Duties will require the regular use of telephones, computers, fax machines, scanners and calculators. Must have access to a personal vehicle and hold a valid state driver’s license and insurance.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must have the ability to lift moderately heavy objects up to 25lbs. and perform duties requiring extensive maneuverability and normal strength.
