Job Summary:

The Lead Line Cook at Prospectors Pizzeria & Alehouse plays a key leadership role in the kitchen, overseeing daily operations on the line to ensure each dish meets our high standards of flavor, quality, and presentation. This position requires exceptional culinary skills, strong communication, and the ability to guide and support a team in a high-volume environment. The Lead Line Cook is responsible for maintaining consistency, upholding food safety standards, training and mentoring line staff, and assisting the Sous Chef and Kitchen Manager in the smooth execution of all meal services.

Key Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):

Supervise and support line cooks during prep and service to maintain timing, quality, and presentation standards.

Execute and oversee food preparation, cooking, and plating according to established recipes and specifications.

Lead by example in maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work environment.

Conduct line checks and quality control throughout each shift.

Assist in training, mentoring, and developing new and existing kitchen team members.

Communicate effectively with kitchen leadership and front-of-house teams to ensure smooth service flow.

Monitor inventory levels, report shortages, and assist with ordering and receiving.

Promote a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Step in as acting Sous Chef when needed, ensuring operational continuity.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent certification required.

3+ years of experience in a high-volume commercial kitchen; previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred.

Advanced knowledge of culinary techniques, ingredients, and kitchen operations.

Must hold or be able to obtain an Alaska Food Handler Card within 30 days of hire.

Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to train and motivate staff while maintaining composure under pressure.

Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for full shifts (up to 8 hours).

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
