Physical Therapist (Sept. 2025)

Hours 32 hours/week; M-Th 7:30am-4:00pm, 40 weeks/year
Position Overview
Developmental Center Physical Therapists are responsible for providing transdisciplinary-model physical therapy services to children with special needs at Little Light House. Must be a licensed physical therapist and function within the transdisciplinary (TD) philosophy and team of Little Light House.
The Physical Therapist (PT) clearly understands and embraces that they are a part of Little Light House, a Christian ministry with Biblical core values, whose mission is to glorify God by improving the quality of life for children with special needs, their families, and communities.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Performs assessments and provides therapy interventions in individual and group activities for children with special needs per LLH policies and timelines;
- Develops appropriate physical therapy therapeutic goals in conjunction with the families for each child assessed;
- Establishes and provides physical therapy intervention and adaptations consistent with transdisciplinary (TD) functions and approach;
- Consults with classroom staff and parents regarding equipment, sensory and motor functions, and other therapeutic needs of the children;
- Models for classroom staff therapeutic physical therapy interventions, small group gym activities, and proper use of equipment in a TD manner;
- Provides in-service training to staff, volunteers, and parents when requested or as needed;
- Collaborates with other TD team members regarding the total therapeutic needs of the children;
- Designs and directs classroom physical therapy activities aligned with the curriculum;
- Consults, as needed, with outside therapists, professionals, or agencies assisting a particular student to ensure coordination of programs;
- Participates in assistive technology (AT), TD team functions, and documentation as assigned;
- Inventories, maintains, organizes, and makes recommendations for new therapeutic equipment;
- Advocates for children with special needs to the surrounding academic community through teaching and collaborating on therapeutic projects that further the children’s development and independence;
- Completes all paperwork assigned in a timely and excellent manner;
- Other duties as needed or required;
- Daily attendance at Flock;
- Attendance at weekly meetings;
- Attendance at two required CS events a year (i.e., monthly family gatherings);
- Attendance at LLH fundraising events;
- Attend workshops/seminars as requested, CS In-services, and relevant conferences.
Required Qualifications
- Licensed in the State of Oklahoma as a Physical Therapist;
- At least one year’s experience working with children with developmental disabilities;
- Holds current CPR certification;
- Maintains professional license, required continuing education units;
- Possesses current and effective knowledge and skills in:
- Neuromotor development and child development;
- Sensory processing;
- Assessment and documentation;
- Adaptive equipment and assistive technology;
- Physical therapy procedures and interventions;
- Interpersonal relationships;
- Supervision of assigned employees, students, or volunteers;
- Transdisciplinary Team work;
- Excellent analytical, communication, and teaching skills;
- Maintains confidential information using discretion and judgment;
- Support for and participation in the Little Light House trans-disciplinary team approach to Special education;
- Excellent communication skills, learning new tasks, teamwork, organization, initiative, self-discipline, and self-directed completion of job;
- Works independently and cooperatively as a team member with all LLH staff;
- Demonstrates emotional stability, maturity, and a desire to grow spiritually such that spiritual principles will be reflected in day-to-day interactions, with a genuine concern for a job well done;
- Incorporate a welcoming and teaching attitude towards guests, student interns, and others who come to learn from the Little Light House team.

- Reports to the Director of Children's Services
Supervision Exercised
- Oversees and implements the occupational therapy intervention for students in classrooms;
- Supervises and instructs volunteers in assigned PT area;
- Supervises and instructs LLH staff in the physical therapy interventions during their assigned time at Little Light House;
- Interviews/selects candidates for PT internship positions; Trains and interacts with professional and career students regarding PT strategies and interventions during onsite clinical experiences.
