JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join our Medical/Surgical team. The RN in this position provides professional nursing care to a diverse patient population, conducts nursing assessments, assists with exams and treatment, patient education, and maintenance of medical records. The ideal candidate will possess a strong clinical background and a commitment to providing high-quality patient care.
This position communicates and collaborates with the physicians and hospital health care teams to facilitate, coordinate, and maintain compassionate, efficient, quality care and achievement of desired treatment outcomes.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assess the patient's condition during admission and each scheduled shift, promptly identifying and reporting any changes in patient status.
- Recognizes and treats illnesses and injuries according to established operating instructions within the scope of licensure and regulations of state employment or practice.
- Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s) and ensure thorough and timely documentation of care administration in the patient's medical record. - Administer prescribed medications, monitor the patient for therapeutic response, and take appropriate action in the event of an unintended response to the medication.
- Protects patients' privacy through confidentiality, infection control procedures, assuring consistent medication administration, and assuring proper storage and maintenance procedures for all equipment and supplies.
- Responsible for ensuring integrity and security of all privacy laws. Records and maintain patient information in accordance with standard protocols in EMR.
- Maintains professionalism, ethical standards, discretion, candor, privacy and confidentiality of all company proprietary information, meetings, communication, and documents, including implementation of policies and procedures consistent with those of the organization.
- Notify assigned physician of any changes in condition.
- Supports the mission, goals, and objectives of the hospital.
REQUIREMENTS
- ADN, BSN Required
- Active and unrestricted current Texas or Compact RN License
- 2+ YRS experience in Medical Surgical Unit, Acute Care preferred.
- BLS, ACLS Required.
- Must be able to multi-task, be detail-oriented, be organized and have excellent verbal and communication skills.
- Proficiency with computers and common office equipment, as well as with MS Office products required.
- Must be able to perform duties in a stressful and high paced environment without physical limitations.
- Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time.
- May require bending, stooping, and lifting as required for patient care and transport.
EDUCATION
- ADN, BSN from a University, or an accredited School of Professional Nursing, Required
CERTIFICATION, LICENSURE
- Current Texas RN License
- BLS, ACLS, required.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Ability to adapt to sudden changes and flexibility in work requirements to include potential shift changes based on operational needs and/or command priorities.
- Bilingual in Spanish and English welcomed.
