Occupational Therapist (OT)

Bronx Center

Job Title: Registered Occupational Therapist (OTR)

Reports to: Occupational Therapy (OT) Supervisor

About Us

Help us build what early childhood support should look like. Join The Inspired Community Project (TICP)!

At The Inspired Community Project (TICP), we believe therapy should do more than check a box — it should change lives, strengthen families, and create more inclusive communities.

We’re not just providing services. We’re reimagining early childhood education, school-based support, and developmental care through an equity-centered, family-focused, and deeply collaborative lens.

We’re looking for a Registered Occupational Therapist (OTR) who is passionate about pediatric care, excited by innovation, and ready to be part of a team that is building something meaningful from the ground up.

Whether you’re a seasoned clinician or a newer therapist eager to grow, if you believe in accessible care, interdisciplinary collaboration, neurodiversity-affirming practice, and community impact — this may be your professional home.

What You’ll Do!

This is not your average OT role — and we like it that way.

As a TICP OTR, you’ll provide direct therapy services while also helping shape best practices, mentor emerging clinicians, and collaborate across programs to support children in ways that are holistic, intentional, and impactful.

Direct Service Delivery

Provide occupational therapy services to children across the following programs:

  • Early Intervention (EI)
  • Committee on Preschool Special Education (CPSE)
  • Committee on Special Education (CSE)
  • DOE-related services through RSA (Related Service Authorization) letters

Assessment & Clinical Oversight

  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations for eligibility and service planning using:
    • standardized assessments
    • clinical observations
    • caregiver/family interviews
  • Develop individualized, functional, and family-centered treatment recommendations
  • Monitor treatment effectiveness and adjust clinical recommendations as needed
  • Ensure services align with IFSP and IEP goals
  • Conduct monthly sensory gym integrity and safety checks to ensure therapy spaces and equipment remain clean, safe, and developmentally supportive

Team Leadership & Mentorship

  • Provide mentorship and clinical guidance to OT students and/or developing clinicians
  • Review evaluations, treatment plans, and progress reports for quality, compliance, and clinical alignment
  • Lead case reviews, team meetings, and professional development conversations
  • Support a culture of reflective practice, collaboration, and continuous learning

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with transdisciplinary team members — including SLPs, BTAs, RBTs, BCBAs, SEITs, and Lead Group Teachers — to create integrated, child-centered treatment plans
  • Collaborate on classroom design, sensory supports, materials arrangement, and environmental adaptations that promote regulation, access, and participation
  • Help create therapeutic and instructional spaces where children can truly thrive

What You Need!

  • Master’s degree or higher from an ACOTE-accredited Occupational Therapy program
  • Active New York State Occupational Therapy license
  • NBCOT certification (Registered Occupational Therapist, OTR)
  • Experience in pediatric settings, preferably with EI, CPSE, CSE, and/or RSA services
  • Strong evaluation, documentation, and clinical reasoning skills
  • Comfort working in collaborative, fast-paced, and evolving environments

PREFERRED ATTRIBUTES

  • Experience working with children, especially those who are neurodivergent and have related developmental needs
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Bilingual English-Spanish strongly preferred
  • Passion for growth, creativity, and collaborative problem-solving

Who You Are!

More than credentials — we’re looking for heart, vision, and alignment.

  • You might be a great fit if you:
  • Are a licensed and certified OTR in New York State
  • Bring strong clinical judgment and a thoughtful, child-centered approach to care
  • Are committed to trauma-informed, neurodiversity-affirming, and culturally responsive practice
  • Believe families are partners, not bystanders
  • Thrive in collaborative spaces and value interdisciplinary teamwork
  • Are flexible, solutions-oriented, and excited to help build systems that work better for children and staff alike
  • Enjoy mentoring, teaching, and helping others grow
  • Want your work to have real impact — not just on paper, but in community

Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a major plus, as this role will include communication with Spanish-speaking families.
