Early Intervention Community Specialist

 Job Purpose

The Early Intervention Community Specialist at The Inspired Community Project (TICP) plays a critical role in delivering high-quality early intervention services to children within the community. This supervisory position involves 25 hours of direct service delivery, including assessment, individualized planning, and intervention, ensuring that all services align with best practices and compliance standards. Responsibilities include developing and implementing individualized family service plans (IFSPs) in collaboration with families and other professionals, and facilitating regular meetings with families to review progress and address concerns. Maintaining open communication with daycare staff and ensuring the environment is conducive to service delivery while adhering to daycare policies and procedures, is essential.

In addition to direct service delivery, this role supports the daycare community by providing neurodiversity-affirming and trauma-informed care training to staff and administrators. Strict adherence to HIPAA and FERPA regulations is required, with a focus on safeguarding all sensitive information. Addressing any disputes or complaints from service users or community members in a fair and timely manner is also a key responsibility. Engagement in continuous professional development and active participation in team meetings is expected to ensure alignment with best practices in early intervention. This role contributes to TICP’s mission to advance economic and racial equity within the community.

 Duties and Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Service Delivery:
    • Provide direct early intervention services to children, including assessment, individualized planning, and intervention.
    • Develop and implement individualized family service plans (IFSPs) in collaboration with families and other professionals.
    • Ensure services are delivered following best practices and compliance standards.
    • Supervision of Registered Apprentices as assigned. 
  2. Family Engagement:
    • Communicate effectively with families regarding the provision of services, ensuring they understand their rights and the services available.
    • Facilitate regular meetings with families to review progress and discuss any concerns.
    • Provide parents the opportunity to view daily session notes and obtain signatures on quarterly reports.
  3. Collaboration with Daycare Centers:
    • Maintain open communication with daycare staff, understanding and adhering to relevant daycare policies and procedures.
    • Ensure that the daycare environment is conducive to delivering EI services.
  4. Compliance and Confidentiality:
    • Handle all child and family data in compliance with HIPAA and FERPA regulations.
    • Safeguard Protected Health Information (PHI) including diagnosis, services received, payment methods, and personal identification information.
    • Ensure the confidentiality of all sensitive information related to children and families.
  5. Conflict Resolution:
    • Address any disputes or complaints from service users or community members in a fair, timely, and respectful manner.
    • Document all complaints and resolutions, following the organization's established procedures.
  6. Employment Terms:
    • Adhere to TICP employment policies and procedures.
    • Meet all legal and professional requirements necessary for delivering early intervention services.
  7. Professional Development:
    • Engage in continuous professional development to stay current with best practices in early intervention.
    • Participate in regular supervision and team meetings.

 Qualifications 

  • Required: Billable as per New York Early Intervention Qualifications: 
    • BA/MA/MS and New York State certification in any one of the following areas:
      • Special Education Permanent Certificate 
      • Students with Disabilities Birth-Grade 2
      • Teacher for Students with Speech and Language Disabilities (TSSLD)
      • Teacher of the Speech and Hearing Handicapped (TSHH)
      • Teacher of the Deaf/Vision
      • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
      • Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW)
      • Licensed Psychologist
      • Speech-Language Pathologists
    • Plus: Existing NPI Number
  • Required:  Active BCBA/BCBA-D certification with no disciplinary sanctions who has been certified for at least five years and meets the ongoing supervision CEU requirement. 
    • Plus: Established history of providing high-quality supervision to trainees.
  • Required: Completion of the 8-hour Supervision Training as per the BACB guidelines
  • Required: Ability to maintain a strong attendance record as well as continued punctuality and professionalism.
  • Expectations: Self-starter who has a strong ability to follow through and complete tasks.

 Position Details 

  • Full-time position, 40 hours per week. 
  • 25 Hours Billable direct service
  • In-person service delivery at community partner daycare
  • Schedule: To be determined in consultation with the CEO/ED and the daycare administrators. Attendance at the Monthly Seminars, the first Tuesday of each month from 3:30-6:30 pm is required and is part of the contract hours. (Starting in January)
  • Salary Range
    • $80,000 - BCBA w/ 3 years supervision experience
    • $85,000 - BCBA w/ 5 years supervision experience 
    • $90,000 - BCBA w/ 5 years of supervision experience and management experience.

*If the assigned Community Partner Daycare has a different schedule for closures then scheduling will be discussed and determined in conjunction with the Director of Community Partnerships or Education Director.
