Athletics - Assistant Athletic Director

All Locations

The Assistant Athletic Director will faithfully support Bradenton Christian Schools mission to prepare the hearts and minds of Gods covenantal children in partnership with the home and church for service in Gods world. It is the Assistant Athletic Directors responsibility to carry out the policies of the School Board as they relate to the function of the school, to the classroom, and to their association with students and parents.

Summary

The Assistant Athletic Director works closely with the Athletic Director and Advancement and Marketing team to provide strategic and operational leadership across all athletics programs. This role ensures administrative excellence, supports coaches and student-athletes, and serves as a liaison with the Athletic Trainer to coordinate care, safety, and performance support. The Assistant Athletic Director also fosters Christ-like character, spiritual growth, and holistic development in every aspect of the athletics program. Duties/Responsibilities:

Spiritual Leadership

  • Models a Christ-centered lifestyle and integrates biblical principles into athletics, training, and team interactions.

  • Mentors student-athletes, coaches, and staff in spiritual growth, sportsmanship, and character development.

  • Supports opportunities for prayer, devotionals, and spiritual formation within athletics.

Administrative & Operational Support

  • Assists the Athletic Director with scheduling, policy implementation, communication, and record-keeping for practices, games, events, and coaching staff.

  • Works with coaches to coordinate logistics for home and away games and events, including travel, facility use, event timelines, and officials’ coordination, and ensures timely, accurate communication of schedules and changes to coaches, student-athletes, families, and school administration.

  • Charged with facilities set up for all home events; maintains athletic documentation, contracts, and compliance with FHSAA and SSAA standards, including game contracts, transportation planning, and officials’ coordination.

  • Oversees athletic facility and equipment use, maintenance, and inventory, including tracking replacement and repair needs.

  • Supports budget management, purchasing, and resource stewardship in partnership with the Director of Accounting and Athletic Director.

  • Provides leadership support in recruitment, onboarding, evaluation, and accountability of coaches and staff.

  • Participates in the development and revision of the athletic handbook, coaching policies, and strategic planning initiatives.

  • Supports the creation and organization of team spotlights and athlete features.

  • Provides site administration for home athletic events, as assigned.

Student-Athlete Development & Athletic Training Support

  • Assists in promoting student-athlete health, wellness, and safety, supporting the Athletic Trainer’s and Strength Coach’s initiatives related to injury prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation.

  • Supports the enforcement of athletic disciplinary policies, ensuring fairness, consistency, and a positive culture.

  • Collaborates with the Athletic Trainer and coaching staff to monitor athlete readiness, recovery, and development.

  • May be tasked with supporting the athletic clearance process, as needed.

Coaching Staff Development & Oversight

  • Ensures coaches receive training through seasonal kickoff meetings, provides ongoing support aligned with the school’s mission and athletic philosophy; seeks opportunities for additional department-specific training. 

  • Assists the Athletic Director in evaluating coach performance and fostering professional development opportunities.

  • Supports the implementation of program-wide coaching objectives, including communications, practices, and game-day operations.

  • Trains coaches on the use of online software platforms including HUDL, Max Preps, Home Campus, and Bound, and others.

Events, Community Relations, and Fundraising Support

  • Assists in planning, organizing, and executing athletic events, including game-day operations and special programs.

  • Represents the athletic program at school and in the community, fostering a high standard of safety, hospitality, and professionalism  to create positive relationships with parents, alumni, supporters, and local organizations, solicits sponsorships, and coordinates fundraising to support program needs and athletic excellence.

  • Partners with Advancement and Marketing to provide timely content and updates for branding and communications, including social media posts, website updates, and promotional materials highlighting athletic programs, events, and achievements.

  • Help increase attendance and improve fan experience through intentional promotion, theme nights, and community engagement initiatives.

  • Supports the Athletic Director in establishing the athletic booster club and assisting with its ongoing operations, ensuring all fundraising and promotional activities align with school policies, mission priorities, and branding standards.

  • Contributes to building a culture of gratitude by helping implement consistent donor appreciation and recognition.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director to support the overall mission of BCS athletics.

  • Provides hands-on assistance with athletic events, including equipment setup, supervision, and operational support.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • A clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ as Savior, weekly participation in a local Christian church, and a strong understanding of Reformed theology.

  • Demonstrated commitment to covenantal Christian education and the development of a biblical worldview in students.

  • Spiritual maturity, integrity, and the ability to mentor student-athletes, staff, and coaches in Christ-centered character development.

  • Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred. Eligible for a Florida Teaching Certificate preferred.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in athletic administration or related field; experience in Christian school athletics preferred.

  • Working knowledge of FHSAA and SSAA policies, procedures, and compliance standards.

  • Experience in athletic training, student-athlete wellness programs, or coaching support preferred.

  • Proven success in fundraising, booster club development, and community partnership building, including soliciting sponsorships.

  • Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills, including collaborating with administration, parents, alumni, supporters, and community partners.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software; familiarity with Home Campus preferred.

  • Physical ability to lift 25+ pounds, stand for extended periods, and assist in athletic event operations.
