Job Summary: Under general supervision of the Director of Dining Services, performs a variety of administrative duties requiring a knowledge of organizational procedures and policies; oversees student workers; oversees daily operations of campus café and spirit shop and ensures compliance with state codes.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Receives and prepares orders, provides excellent customer service, and handles sales transactions for the Chellie Club.
- Oversees the daily operations of the Spirit Shop, including customer service, merchandising, inventory management, point-of-sale operations, and ensuring an attractive, well-stocked retail environment.
- Supervises, schedules, trains, and evaluates student employees working in both the Chellie Club and Spirit Shop, fostering a positive customer service culture while providing mentorship and ensuring adherence to college policies and operational procedures.
- Answers calls, responds to customer inquiries, and provides information regarding Chellie Club and Spirit Shop operations.
- Maintains files and records including payroll/work records, billing, sales deposits, sales tax reporting, and other financial documentation.
- Prepares, edits, and proofreads menus, signage, promotional materials, and other communications; ensures pricing and product information are accurate within the point-of-sale systems.
- Oversees inventory management, purchasing, receiving, pricing, and ordering for both the Chellie Club and Spirit Shop.
- Develops and maintains attractive merchandise displays and seasonal product offerings in the Spirit Shop to enhance the customer experience and support campus events.
- Oversees scheduling of events, responds to customer reservations and requests, and coordinates special orders and functions.
- Works closely with the Director and Assistant Director of Dining Services and other campus departments to support campus events and the successful operation of the Chellie Club and Spirit Shop.
- Oversees departmental scheduling and budget; processes payments and reconciles financial transactions in coordination with the Business Office.
- Monitors sanitation processes in the Chellie Club to ensure compliance with Missouri Health and Food Code regulations. Updates procedures and oversees staff training in proper sanitation and food safety practices.
- Assists in developing promotions, marketing initiatives, and customer engagement activities that increase visibility and sales for both the Chellie Club and Spirit Shop.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge grammar, spelling and punctuation; basic mathematics; modern office methods, procedures, equipment and filing systems; computer literacy; business letter and report-writing techniques; proofreading, record-keeping principles and procedures; and receptionist and telephone techniques; basic knowledge of safety and sanitation regulations. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs.
